New Community Care Chaplain for Guyra

Rev. Daniel Hayes
26th Nov 2024

Anglicare has worked in our region for many years, providing mental health support, financial counselling, and housing assistance to those who need it. Most of their work goes unnoticed, but in 2025, Anglicare will have a new presence in Guyra through a Community Care Chaplain.
Rev. Daniel Hayes recently took on this part-time role alongside his work as an Assistant Minister at Glen Innes Anglican Church. Daniel grew up in Nepal, so he has first-hand knowledge of what it means to live where you don’t feel like you fit in.
As the chaplain, Daniel will dedicate himself to supporting our town’s struggling and marginalised people. He looks forward to serving the community in this new way. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get to know people, hear their stories, and hopefully help and encourage them in the next chapter.”
This position was created through a three-way partnership between Anglicare, Guyra Anglican Church, and Glen Innes Anglican Church, with Anglicare footing the bill. Guyra minister, Rev. Tim Stevens has welcomed Daniel’s appointment.
“I am ecstatic that Guyra is on Anglicare’s radar,” Rev Stevens said. “I am pleased that our church will have the resources to help the many people who are struggling in our town.”
Daniel will commence his work in Guyra in mid-December, so if you see him around town, please feel free to say “hi’. If you want to contact Daniel directly, call Guyra Anglican’s office at (02) 6779 1111 and leave a message.
