If you want to know what’s happening at the Royal Hotel in Guyra, there is no better person to ask than owner Ganesh Sedhain.
Originally from Nepal the hotelier has plans in place to make the venue a social hub and wants the community to come on board.
Ganesh is based in Walcha where he owns the Apsley Arms Hotel, but also owns the Club Hotel in Glen Innes as well as the one in Guyra.
Since taking over earlier this year there have been some ups and downs so he wants the community to know that he is committed to staying and growing with the town.
Over the next three weeks he hopes to meet with the community, organisations and other businesses to find out how they can work together for Guyra. He sees a bright future for the town and wants the Royal to be a part of that future for a long time.
Plans are already in place to repair the roof of the building and he hopes to open a garden area at the rear of the building in the not too distant future.
“I am here to support Guyra and be a part of the community,” Ganesh said.
“I know that in a small town a pub is not just a pub it is an important part of the community so I want people to feel free to call in or email me with their feedback.
“I want to know if they had a good experience but I also want to know what we can do better.
“I am committed to supporting the community and will continue with current sponsorships and want to increase that support even more.”
Ganesh said that there have been a few changes already with a new manager and new chef on board.
What hasn’t changed is his objective of running true Aussie Pub (with a Nepalese twist) that will continue to be a social hub for the Guyra community.
He said that despite rumours, there are no plans to sell and he will give 100% to make it a success.
The Royal Hotel is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, featuring a seasonal menu with traditional pub food.
