Pedigree and Companion Cat Show lands in Guyra for the first time

15th Apr 2025

The 11th annual Armidale and New England Cat Club Pedigree and Companion Cat Show is purring its way to Guyra, with the event set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 26th and 27th at the Gilbert White Memorial Hall (Community Hall). The event has been transferred to Guyra due to hail damage at the usual Armidale venue.
The Armidale and New England Cat Club is teaming up with the Dorrigo and District Cat Club to host the event which will feature six rings of Australian Open Style judging across the weekend.
A team of international judges will be on hand to select the best in show.
It is not too late to enter your furry friend, but you will need to get in quick as entries close on Friday April 18th.
There will be specialty Challenge Rings for Ragdolls, British Shorthairs and Russian Blues, White and Black Cats will be judged, along with Junior Handler events.
Doors open to the public from 10:00am both days, with family-friendly fun, an amazing variety of cat breeds on show, and chances to vote for your “Favourite Cat” and “Best Decorated Cat Show Theme” — this year’s playful theme is “Sheepish Spuds.”
All day refreshments and drinks by the local legendary Jess @ Why Knot Catering
Expect to see favourites like Persians, Bengals, Maine Coons, Siamese, Burmese, British Shorthairs, and even the hairless Sphynx, as well as adorable companion cats and kittens. If you’re curious about a particular breed, just ask at the check-in table — someone will be happy to point you in the right direction!
It’s not all about the show ring — the event will also host fantastic stalls, including handmade items for your pampered pets and incredible raffles. Don’t miss Danny’s legendary handmade cat scratching posts — tough enough to be “Bengal proof!” Custom orders are available, and Danny will bring them to Guyra on request. Check out his work on Facebook at Catisfaction Cat Trees.
If this year’s show proves successful, the annual cat show may become a regular Guyra event, bringing with it a fun and furry tradition for local families and feline fans.
Whether you’re a cat breeder, a family looking for a day out, or someone simply obsessed with cats — this is an event not to be missed!
