The inaugural Guyra Fleece & Fibre Frolic (GFFF) was a resounding success, with organizers estimating over 50 people were in attendance at any given time and more than 100 visitors throughout the day. The event aimed to unite fibre art enthusiasts, retailers, producers, and the public—and it exceeded all expectations.
Visitors expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to connect with fellow fibre lovers, including longtime friends Anne and Gaye, who had spun together over the years and reconnected at the event.
Fibre producers were thrilled to see their wares well-received by fibre artists and retailers were well received. Attendees were impressed by the variety of fleece and fibre available and shared how inspired they were by the creativity on display.
Local businesses also benefited from the event. Kimmy’s Kitchen and Rafters served special Frolic meals, and reported lots of people from the Frolic in for lunch, while Bean Travelin baked adorable Frolic-themed biscuits that were a hit among visitors.
The GFFF organizers acknowledged the immense effort put forth by their group members and extended their thanks to all those who supported the event.
Special thanks were given to local businesses, the Lamb and Potato Festival committee, the Guyra Men’s Shed, individuals who contributed to the exhibition space, and many others. Thanks also to the Guyra Neighbourhood Centre for its support in making the event possible
Looking ahead, the GFFF team is already planning for the 2026 event, eager to continue growing this vibrant celebration of fibre arts.
