A fantastic French themed evening

20th Aug 2024

The CWA Guyra Evening Branch hosted the 2024 Guyra Community Combined Services Dinner on Thursday the 15th of August.
Approximately 40 attendees, from nine Community Groups, were treated to a fantastic French themed evening, enjoyed a 3-course meal, as well as a CWA Style ‘Cook Off’ and Trivia.
Agricultural Officer Rebecca Smith, assisted by Fiona Smith, engaged all attendees in a four round trivia game with questions on Fire Ants, Micro bats, Fungi and all things CWA.
Rebecca also ran the scone cook off, where each table nominated a champion to follow a recipe and create six scones that were cooked during the main course, and then judged by Land Cooking Committee Member (and Evening Branch member), Mary Hollingsworth.
The table from the Guyra Progress Association were voted the best scone bakers on the night.
All members embraced the French theme for the evening, with outfits, team names, decorations, bunting and lights.
The CWA Guyra Evening Branch then handed on the baton of organising to the Guyra Progress Association for the organisation of the 2025 event.
A fantastic evening which showed the strength of the Evening Branch to pull together and put on a fabulous community event!
