Excitement is building for the Guyra Fleece and Fibre Frolic (GF&FF), happening on Saturday, March 22nd, in the Lamb and Potato Pavilion (aka the Music Shed) on the highway.
The event has already attracted widespread interest from fibre lovers, with enthusiasts expected to attend from as far away as Bellingen, Warwick, Tamworth, and Bundarra. Get ready for plenty of ‘woolly’ conversations and ‘fibre’ to digest throughout the day!
The event will be easy to find, with a trail of yarnbombing leading the way for both visitors and locals alike. Organisers are thrilled that the Frolic has already helped increase recognition of the diverse range of fibre products available in the local area.
The primary goal of the event is to bring together yarn enthusiasts to share knowledge and skills. Throughout the day, there will be a variety of demonstrations and enthusiast-led discussions covering all things fibre, including topics like:
• A love of long wools
• Beginners’ colour work
• Drop spindling
• Spinning art yarn
With four fleece providers and two yarn retailers attending, there will be plenty to see and do. Gwenda from Green Frog Creations will be showcasing new items, including sheep-inspired stitch holders made specifically for the Frolic.
For those looking to get hands-on, there will be a “sit and do” area with looms and spinning wheels set up for you to try. An exhibition space will also be available for participants to bring their own projects to share and check out what others are creating.
Additionally, you can join the special knitalong created for the event! The pattern will be available on the day, or you can pick up a copy at Our Little Gallery, via the GF&FF Facebook page, or by contacting Louise by
phoning 0428 206970 or louisep1962@gmail.com.
The day kicks off at 9 AM and will wrap up around 4 PM and entry is free. The Guyra Fleece and Fibre Frolic promises to be a vibrant celebration of fibre arts, offering something for enthusiasts of all skill levels to connect, learn, and create. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled day!
