TroutFest action this weekend

Open Gardens are one of the many activities which will be happening around Guyra this weekend
01st Oct 2024

TroutFest celebrates the Trout Season opening in streams and dams of Guyra and the high country of New England.
Activities commence from this Thursday October 3rd and will continue through to October 7th.
Held in the heart of Guyra and around the district, fishing activities include a children’s clinic on fishing essentials culminating in the excitement of catching a huge trout to take home.
As well as the weekend-long Fishing Classic competition, there are plenty of other activities to do and things to see.
Saturday is TroutFest’s Market Day with food kid’s activities, and stalls of many kinds in the main street. The atmosphere is fun and lively with free live music all day.
There will be activities, especially for children. Kids can search for hidden trout for a reward or paint their own lure, or they can go fishing in the tenth dam at the Golf Course.
Local businesses are encouraged to join in with decorated fishy-themed window displays and weekend deals.
Other events include the Art Show, Metal to Masterpiece amongst vintage cars, and the hugely popular tours of cool-climate Guyra district gardens.
Three local gardens will be open to the public with a $5 entry fee. Canoona at 572 Baldersleigh Road, Kennilworth at 134 Falconer Road and Rose Cottage at 126 Ollera Street.
The Guyra Museum will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday and visitors can also take a trip on the heritage train through town.
Tours will be conducted around Costa’s huge tomato glass houses or as well as Deano’s Trout Farm. The program also includes Rotary’s Book Fair, plus Poetry at the Australian Poet’s Hall of Fame.
The full program is available on the TroutFest facebook page and website.
