Meet our Australia Day Ambassador

Brad Farmer iwill be the special guest at Australia Day celebrations across the Armidale Region
21st Jan 2025

Best-selling author and award-winning conservationist Brad Farmer AM will be in Guyra and Ben Lomond on the weekend in his role as Australia Day Ambassador (ADA) for the Armidale region.
To Brad Farmer, Australia is just one beach, a huge sandbox of diverse and unique places to relax and play. He says it is our nation’s safe place, where all of us have fun, make new friends and enjoy to the fullest, this truly lucky country.
It’s also where the spirit of Australian mateship shines 365 days pf the year on the longest, best coastline, with the most number of beaches in the world – 11,761 and he’s still counting.
Brad’s family are now seventh-generation salty Australians, all who have had a love for our vast sandy shores. He started his first beaches campaign at age 12 on the Gold Coast, and has voluntarily dedicated his entire life to protecting, preserving and promoting them, these days with the honorary title of Australia’s Beach Ambassador. For this, he has been inducted as a Member of the Order of Australia.
2025 is Brad’s 13th year as an Australia Day Ambassador (ADA) and something he very much looks forward to every year, celebrating together as one nation and respecting the great legacy of First Nations peoples, who remind us of the incredibly beautiful island continent we all proudly call home.
The Guyra community will have an opportunity to hear his story at the Australia Day Awards dinner to be held at the Guyra Bowling Club on January 25th and also at the flag raising ceremonies in Ben Lomond and in Guyra on January 26th.
