Free Life-Saving Training on Suicide Alertness

The Guyra RSL Sub-Branch is excited to announce that Mr. Bronte Pollard, the RSL NSW Liaison Officer, will be conducting a safeTALK training session for members and the broader Guyra community. This vital workshop focuses on suicide alertness, helping participants recognize the signs of suicide risk and connecting individuals with life-saving resources.
Mr. Pollard will share his expertise in a face-to-face session on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at the Guyra Soldiers’ Memorial Hall. This safeTALK workshop is open to all community members aged 15 and older, regardless of military experience.
The session is free of charge but requires pre-registration by April 1st, 2025. The Guyra RSL Sub-Branch is asking participants to email GuyraSB@rslnsw.org.au with their name and contact details to register for the training.
The workshop, designed to help participants become more alert to the warning signs of suicide, teaches the fundamental skills of suicide first aid. Attendees will learn how to identify individuals at risk, ask direct questions about suicide, and connect them to appropriate resources.
In addition to the practical knowledge gained, participants will receive a Participant Kit, including a booklet, wallet card, and stickers, along with a Certificate of Completion. This workshop serves as an excellent opportunity to enhance professional development and gain essential life-saving skills that could make a significant difference to someone in need.
The safeTALK workshop is part of a larger initiative by RSL NSW to support veterans, their families, and the broader community. The Guyra RSL Sub-Branch encourages everyone to take part in this important community program, which could help save lives.
