The Armidale racecourse was picture perfect on Sunday for the running of the Watson McNamara & Watt Guyra Cup. There were seven races on the day, proudly supported by Guyra businesses.
The course benefitted from storm rain in the lead up, and there was a splash of colour thanks to the New England Garden Festival committee who loaned the petunia displays at either end of the finishing line.;
The feature event on the day was the Guyra Cup which was won by ‘Red Beryl’, ridden by Shannen Llewellyn. The horse is trained by Armidale’s Jane Clement, who is currently sitting on top of the NSW Country Trainers premiership.
A large contingent of Guyra racegoers were present trackside for the event.
Other race results were:
Race 1 Armidale Cup Maiden Plate winner ‘Prevaricate’
Race 2 Guyra Fuels / Four Ways Service Centre Benchmark 58 Handicap winner ‘Oh No Bro’
Race 3 Dasha’s Hardware / Iga Guyra Country Boosted Maiden Handicap winner ‘Holy Mackeral’
