Junior Soccer
There wasn’t a lot of junior soccer played this past weekend, with the wet weather and the school holidays. The Under 10s and the under 12s did get a game in.
Under 10 Tigers played at home this week against the Souths team. The kids were a little slow moving with the cold windy conditions but eventually kicked into gear.
First to score was Cruze with a nice run down the side. Then Chaise got in on the act and scored not one goal, but a hat trick for Guyra to be 4-0 at the break.
The second half saw the Souths team break through and claw one back before Katie scored off the corner. She then soon followed it up with a lovely breakaway run and she single handed went right through for her second goal. Final score 6-1
Awesome performance everyone.
The under 12 were missing a few players this week but this helped to improve their communication and teamwork.
They faced the team from Uralla and in the first half it was a tough contest with no one being able to post points. The second half saw a great run down the left from Albie and he converted it to points. Guyra was up 1 to nil.
The next goal saw good play from Uralla to tie it up at 1-all. The game was then hard fought until the final minutes when Uralla pushed through the defence to go up 2 to 1 and take the win from Guyra.
Senior Soccer
The senior side only had the one game this week where they took on one of the Westside teams.
The first half was a mess with handling error and poor communication. Luckily for Guyra, the Westside team was just as bad, and it was only 1-all at half time.
With the wind at their backs in the second half, Guyra conceded the first goal of the second half. This kicked them into action and Guyra put 3 goals on the Westside team in a short period of time to take their first win of the season.
