New England District Pennants a huge success

Ladies runner up Jenny Rogers
07th May 2024

What a huge success the 4th round of the district pennants were. Just under 100 players enjoyed a beautiful day on the glorious Mother of Ducks golf course that is in great condition, (thanks green keepers).
Costa tomatoes were once again on board as our major sponsor and we thank them heaps for their ongoing support of Vets Golf. Thanks also to the Bowling Club who go over and above with their support.
The good news is the Guyra ladies and men Vets got a great win putting us two points in the lead heading into the final round in Walcha on the 23rd of this month.
Our cause was certainly helped by a brilliant score of 39 points by Kerry Bull who took out first place for the ladies. Runner up was another local with Jenny Rogers scoring a great 36 points.
In the men the A grade went to a Craig Hulls also with 39 points to runner up Darryl Carson on 36. In the B grade Jon Cumming was the winner with 36 points to runner up Paul Redden on 34. The C grade went to Craig Zirkler, another 39 pointer to runner up Roger Grills with 36.
Straightest drives went to Belinda Lenehan for the ladies and Phil Green for the men. NTPs went to Deb Heffernan on the 7th, Marj Chappell on the 9th, Rob Brown on the 10th and Mick Kirk on the 18th.
The scores leading into the last round are: Guyra – 32, Glen Innes – 30, Armidale – 26, Uralla - 22 and Walcha 10.
A final thank you to Wal, Nancy and their team of organisers. A big job carried out to perfection. Next week is a stableford event and please get your name into Wal for the last round in Walcha on the 23rd.
