Guyra crush TAS in dominant hockey victory

01st Apr 2025

Guyra men’s hockey team stormed to their second win of the season, blanking TAS in a commanding performance. With a deep bench and fresh firepower, the squad looked unstoppable.
Bill Munsie delivered the moment of the match, erasing last week’s own goal by smashing home his first true strike against the opposition. A tactical shift from defense to attack proved a masterstroke.
Guyra’s midfield dictated play, the wingers tore through defences, and the backline stood like a fortress. When tested, the keeper rose to the occasion, ensuring a flawless clean sheet.
To their credit, TAS fought with courage and integrity, refusing to back down despite the pressure. Meanwhile, Guyra’s dominance has been noticed—several players have earned call-ups for representative hockey next weekend.
Momentum is surging and the best is yet to come.
Both women’s second and third grade teams have come together to dust off the cob webs and discover muscles they forgot they had. In the second grade game against PLC special mention of the well planned tactical penalty corners by Belle Lenehan, which resulted in Sarah Cox encouraging the ball to go in the box for our first goal of the season.
The third grade team battled the elements last Saturday against ESC with Emma Ellis diving in all directions to protect the goal box.
The hard work of all, and the combination of Jordie Muller and Susie Crawford (our Walcha ladies) resulted in third grade getting on the score board. Both teams yet to take home a win but many laughs where had as we come together for what will be a memorable season.
