Timepiece Campdraft this weekend

There will be plenty of action and entertainment at the Guyra Showground this weekend
19th Nov 2024

Australia’s fastest-growing horse sport, campdrafting, is set to make a return to Guyra this weekend with the 2024 Guyra Timepiece Campdraft. The three-day event promises to be a thrilling, family-friendly experience, packed with competitive campdrafting, auctions, calcuttas, a licensed bar with live music, and plenty of food options for visitors of all ages.
Organisers anticipate over 700 visitors to descend on the Guyra Showground, setting up camp for two to four nights. There has been an extremely positive response to the first full program in seven years.
The Guyra community has been hosting campdrafts at the picturesque Guyra Showgrounds for over 50 years. Like most rural communities, the Guyra Campdraft is rooted in tradition, steeped in skill and embraced by this typical Australian outback community.
A local campdrafting event provides entertainment and gathering opportunities for the wider community as it is a uniquely Australian spectacle that is fast paced and requires considerable skill from both the horse and the rider.
Unfortunately, Covid lockdowns and subsequent droughts have made it difficult to host a campdraft locally for seven years. The energetic and hard-working 2024 Guyra Timepiece Campdraft Committee is hosting its first full campdraft program on the traditional third weekend of November which is this weekend.
Affiliated with the Australian Campdraft Association (ACA), the 2024 Guyra Campdraft will take place from Friday November 22nd through to Sunday November 24th at the Guyra Showgrounds.
The Campdraft Club has received the generous support of local businesses to help reach funding goals and in turn provide a valuable community event. The local VRA will be in attendance to provide essential First Aid support.
Committee members are reminded of the working bee at the Showgrounds this Wednesday, November 20th from 8.30 am.
