Three teams claim spot in league grand finals

On Saturday Guyra Junior Rugby League took three teams to Inverell for the major semi finals. In a day that was do or die, the mighty Super Spuds come out on top in all three games sending the Intermediate League Tag girls, Senior League Tag girls and the Under 16s boys to the grand final.
First to take to the field was the Intermediate League Tag Team. This game was close from the start to the finish, with the girls playing together as a team which was great to watch. They got the win over Moree 22 to 16.
Next on the footy field was the Senior League Tag Team. Taking on a strong Glen Innes side the Guyra girls gave it their all for the full game. This game could have gone either way but a try to Guyra with about four minutes to go sealed the deal, sending them through to the grand final with a 20-16 win. This is the first time this team has made it to a grand final.
Last of the day was the Under 16s and right from the kick off the Guyra boys let Glen Innes know they were there to win. In the first 10 minutes of the game, Guyra was up by two tries, and did not take the foot of the pedal until the full-time whistle. All the boys played for each other giving it all in attack, making great meters, and always helping each other out in defence. The final score was 36 to 18.
Guyra Junior League are so proud of all the teams this year and to have three teams playing in the Grand Final is a massive testament to the strength of the small club and town.
The Grand Final matches will be played on Saturday in Bingara and they would love to see heaps of Guyra supporters dressed in their Blue, Black and White Spud gear.
