The Guyra local second grade side led the charge into Saturday’s games against South Armidale. The team was looking for its first win of the season against a much more experienced side.
In the early going of both halves Guyra was unlucky to miss a couple of opportunities on goal. Despite Souths going to a 2 nil lead, the game was still in the balance regardless of the score line. In the end, the experience of the Souths side was too much for Guyra and they held on for a win. The progression of the team since the first round in Inverell has been amazing.
The local first grade game kicked off at 3pm with the Guyra team chasing some much-needed match play. It was only their 4th game of the season coming into the 7th round of the competition.
They started strong and went toe to toe with the South Armidale side, with a goal just going over the keeper and a distance shot, Souths took a lead into the break.
In what became an injury plagued game for Guyra, with two mid field players going down and a lack of match play, fatigue got the best of Guyra and Souths came away with the victory.

On Saturday, the Guyra Under 6 Spooks had our 3rd game of the season playing the East Armidale United Green team. The team played so well, considering we didn’t have our only sub Clark T playing with us - we all missed him at the game. Ebonee C, Anna R, Hugo M, and Banjo M played an amazing game and are improving each week. I couldn’t be prouder of our amazing little spooks team.
The Guyra Under 6 Caspers have had a great start to the soccer season. Fletcher, Frazer, Quinn, Oscar and Jack are developing their skills and are working really well as a team. Our team had a great game in Armidale on the weekend demonstrating great sportsmanship and being great team mates.
The Guyra Under7 Spooks played Demon Knights Ninjas in a very entertaining game. Axel L, Haidee H made some great defence plays and Eli L made a couple of great runs with the ball. Vinnie F, Willow C and Thomas C were our goal scorers.
With overwhelming numbers, the Under 10/11s were able two form two teams this season. Can we ask that parents make sure they know what team their child or children are in and make sure the coach knows if they will be absent on any weekend. The weekend past seen a very competitive game against Walcha and the other side play a well organised Norths side.
The Under 12s took to the field looking to make it two wins in a row against the team from Walcha. Guyra started slowly and Walcha got a 2 goal lead. The side was determined not to get left behind and hit back with one of their own. In what proved to be a great come back the Guyra side were able to hold their nerve and be patient, then the goals came walking away with a great 4 to 3 win.
