Rural Fire Service fun Bowls and BBQ Fundraiser

Rural Fire Service members joined the women bowlers for a day of fun
22nd Oct 2024

On Saturday, Jess - the Bowlo barmaid and our newest member of the Guyra Womens’ Bowls Club - organised a fun bowls and BBQ day to raise funds for the rural fire service, and also to promote our Womens’ Bowls Club.
The day was a fun and tasty success! Jess, Jilly, Dottie and Leis, representing the women bowlers, were on hand to show the RFS ‘newbies’ how it’s done. Fun bowls only, so rules were non-existent, as the little white ball mysteriously made its way to the our visitors bowls, ensuring many wins for RFS members Amanda and Paul.
We had a wee visitor, Finn, who took a break from mini-golf to show us how it’s done on the green – take as many goes as required to get up the other end! More wee visitors, Maddison and Casey, had a good try at bowls, and also were a great help in sorting out the bowls at the end. Thank you, girls!
Dingo and Pat were excellent behind the BBQ, and lunch was enjoyed by all. Music from the boom box entertained us while on the green.
Many thanks to all who joined in on the day. RFS members and family Amanda, Jenny, Paul, Jeni, Valmai, Barry, Pat, John, Dingo, Jacob, Anne-Marie, Maddison, and Casey; Women Bowlers Jilly, Dottie and Leis, and the biggest thank-you to Jess, who thought of and organized the day.
Guyra turned on lovely weather, tasty BBQ snags for lunch, funds were raised for a worthy cause, and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A success all round!
COMMUNITY GROUPS!
Please note: we hope to hold these fun bowls and BBQ fundraising days every two months (or monthly if there is sufficient interest) so please contact Leis (piggsy12@gmail.com) for information and more details. A fun way to raise money and interest for your group, and no bowls experience required!
