Junior Soccer
Under 6 Spooks, played Walcha Lions on Saturday. We had a couple of players away this week, so a big thank you goes out to Fraser, Fletcher, and Oscar for stepping up and helping Ebonee, Anna, and Hugo for this game.
Guyra under 7 Spooks played a strong TAS Torpedoes which had Guyra defending most of the game. Good games from all the kids with Eli and Stirling our goal scorers.
Under 8s headed to Uralla to play a strong opposition, they played well in patches but were unable to remain focused for the entire game. Penny M did manage to score in a fast-paced game.
The Tigers took on DK in Armidale this week. Guyra started well and passed the ball around nicely. Chaise and Cruze combined for a well earned goal from Cruze to give them an early lead. DK fired back with a couple of long shots to go up 2-1.
Katie and Ruby played very well in the midfield. The team got a little fatigued in the end and DK managed to hold on for a 2-1win.
Under 10 Phantoms played well and had a 3-all draw with North United in a very much improved performance from previous weeks with teamwork on display.
The under 12s headed to Doody Park to take on East Armidale. This was the team’s toughest game of the season and the first quarter of the game was close with missed shots from both sides.
It was P Grills who broke the deadlock scoring and this was quickly followed by a goal from T Purvis. The second half started with a fight-back from Easts scoring their first taking the score to 2-1.
Guyra didn’t drop their heads and rallied hitting back with 2 more goals, keeping their undefeated streak in tack with the 4-1 win.

Senior Soccer
Guyra senior teams were both in action over the weekend against North United in Armidale.
It was a nice afternoon, however, along with other matches they were relegated to a field that was less then desirable at one end.
Fourth grade kicked off the afternoon looking to build on the previous week’s momentum. The game was close in the first half with a couple of Guyra shots rebounding off the goal posts.
The second half saw a major injury to a key member of the backline seeing them taken off to hospital. This inspired the team and Tom managed to secure the game’s first goal soon after the game restarted.
In what seemed to be forever, the game slowly drew to completion with the injury impacted backline conceding a goal with four minutes to go and finish the game in a 1-all draw.
Third grade come out boosted by some returning players giving them more confidence in the mid field. Norths managed the first goal off a missed communication just outside the 18-yard box.
With a couple of penalties just going either side of the goals, Guyra was right in the game. In what was turning into a scrappy game, a penalty was conceded by Norths inside the goal box. This led to a penalty shot taken and converted to points by Harrison D. Then the game came to a finish at the second 1-all draw for the day.
